have you ever seen the trees dance in the wind, or walked down an empty street,and felt an odd longing for a time or place in which you've never been?

 So i ear hustled this from one of my bosses at USC (I’d probably never find shit like this on my own). Bottom line, I’m glad it was found.

Grandma’s House

it always smelled of dog. but i didn’t realize it. it also smelled of chickens, and liniment, and soup. in the lazy afternoons, i would listen to the ticking of the clock, and the buzzing of a fly or two, accompanied by grandma’s light snoring as she napped on the couch. outside i could hear the sounds of a chainsaw taking down trees, or cutting posts for a fence. it would smell of wet grass and if i was close enough to them, of goats.

falling leaves

the sky was and grey.

the air, thin and cold.

a large gust of wind blew, and when we looked up in the sky, thousands of dark specks swirled about in the air, unrecognizeable.

as they fell closer, we saw the shapes of many leaves, falling from the sky, seeming to drop from the clouds themselves.

they rained down upon us. crisp and bright against the darkness.

23 I beheld the earth,
And, lo, it was waste and void;
And the heavens, and they had no light.
24 I beheld the mountains, and, lo, they trembled,
And all the hills moved to and fro.
25 I beheld, and, lo, there was no man,
And all the birds of the heavens were fled.
26 I beheld, and, lo, the fruitful field was a wilderness,
And all the cities thereof were broken down
